Karbala Electricity Department has cut Imam Al-Hujjah Hospital power supply without prior notice at 11:00 AM on Monday, Apr. 26th, 2021. A few surgeries were underway and several patients were staying at the ICU. This happened despite the agreement between our administration and the electricity minister during a meeting that was held on Thursday, Mar. 18th, 2021. The Electricity Department has a history of cutting the hospital’s power supply which violates Article (143) of the Civil Procedure Law.
The hospital has paid off (406,000,000) Iraqi dinars since January 2020, however, the Electricity Department issued outrageous bills demanding (526,000,000) to be paid at once, including old debts that were suspended in 2017 by former prime minister Dr. Haider Al-Abadi.
In order to prevent disaster, the hospital cannot receive any patient if the power outage continues. The administration will be forced to close the hospital and maintain the right to take legal action for the safety of our patients and employees. May Allah hear our grievance.
