A medical team at Imam Al-Hujjah Charitable Hospital succeeded in relieving the suffering of a patient who was experiencing urinary retention due to a blockage in the urethra caused by a “large stone”.The patient had been taking several medications without improvement.
Dr. Haidar Al-Qadi, specialist in urology at Imam Al-Hujjah Charitable Hospital, mentioned that the patient was experiencing severe pain, urinary retention, and swelling in the lower abdomen.
He further adds: “After examining the patient, we found that he had previously complained of bloody urine and a burning sensation during urination for a long period of time. He had taken various treatments without significant improvement.”
He also added: “After performing a cystoscopy, we found a large stone that caused the obstruction in the ureters and the urinary retention in the bladder.”
The urologist confirmed that: “The entire stone was successfully fragmented using modern laser technology under local anesthesia due to the patient’s underlying chronic conditions (diabetes and high blood pressure), and he was discharged on the same day in good health.”
