What is placenta previa?
It is a condition that occurs during pregnancy when the placenta completely or partially covers the opening at the end of the uterus (cervix).
In most pregnancies, the placenta is attached to the top or side of the uterus. But in the case of placenta previa, the placenta is attached to the bottom of the uterus and may partially or completely cover the opening of the uterus (cervix), which can cause severe bleeding for the mother before or after birth or during the birth process.
