Glaucoma, or blue water, or black water in the eye, is a disease that steals sight without any apparent symptoms, so it is described as the “silent thief.”
The month of January was chosen to raise awareness about it.
This disease arises from high pressure in the eye, leading to damage to the tissue of the optic nerve, which transmits vision from the eye to the brain.

📌 Causes:
genetics, age, high eye pressure, low blood pressure, sleep apnea, myopia, diabetes, and use of steroids for a long period of time.

📌 Symptoms :
Symptoms do not appear in the early stages, but gradually peripheral vision weakens and the field of vision becomes very narrow, as if the patient were looking through a tunnel. The patient feels pain in the affected eye.
Sometimes central vision is also impaired and the patient notices blind spots when looking straight ahead.

📌 Treatment :
Treatment options include eye drops, laser therapy, and surgery.

A medical team specialized in ophthalmology and surgery is available every morning (9:00 – 1:00) and evening (4:00 – 8:00).
Imam Al-Hujjah Hospital also provides you with a laser retina and eye examination device (OCT), which images the optic nerve and monitors cases of intraocular pressure that causes damage to the optic nerve.

Regular eye examinations are essential for early detection to save your sight!
