Emergency C-section for “dangerous case” crowned with success at Imam Al-Hujjah Hospital

A medical-surgical team at Imam Al-Hujjah Hospital in Holy Karbala performed an emergency caesarean section to save the life of a 31-year-old patient.
The patient was suffering from an advanced placenta and its adhesion to the bladder wall, and she had five previous cesarean sections, according to obstetrician and gynecologist Dr. Maryam Rajeh.
The medical team was headed by Dr. Maryam Rajeh, obstetrician and gynecologist, and Dr. Samir Ghafel, general surgery specialist, and Dr. Hussein Jabbar, urology specialist, participated in it.
Dr. Rajeh stated:

“The medical team was able to save the patient’s life as she gave birth to a male baby, and the uterus was removed to save her life.”

She added that

“This operation is considered dangerous, as it took two and a half hours.”

The obstetrician and gynecologist pointed out that

“The patient was given four units of blood and 6 units of plasma.”
