Neurosurgeons Dr. Isaac Lattouf (Lebanon) and Dr. Hazim Moojid (Iraq) performed surgery on a patient in his 20s who visited Imam Al-Hujjah Hospital in hopes of regaining his ability to walk.
The young man suffered from movement impairment and foot drop, the medical examination revealed that this was caused by a mass on the patient’s spinal cord, affecting the fourth and fifth sacral vertebrae.
The mass was surgically removed and the four lower vertebrae of the sacrum were stabilized. The young man was able to walk again immediately after recovering from his surgery.
