The General Surgery Department at Imam Al-Hujjah Hospital successfully performed a complicated laparoscopy for a 60-year-old woman suffering from pain in her gallbladder and in the left side of her pelvis. The medical examinations and radiographs revealed that an 11 cm cyst and a 6 cm cyst were attached to the patient’s ovaries. She also had cholecystitis, which is inflammation of the gallbladder.
Dr. Emad Abd Al-Saheb Saheb, the lead surgeon, stated: “We received the patient at the hospital and she was complaining of severe pain in the left side of the pelvis as well as in the gallbladder. We decided to perform a laparoscopic procedure that took 90 minutes. We were able to remove the gallbladder, the left ovary, and the two cysts.”
Dr. Abd Al-Saheb added: “The patient was also suffering from diabetes and hypertension which made the surgery more challenging for the surgical and anesthesia team. The patient was discharged in a good, stable condition.”
