The clinical laboratory at Imam Al-Hujjah Hospital received the renewal of the ISO 15189 accreditation certificate which was awarded to the biochemistry unit on 8/31/2020 by the Iraqi Accreditation System (IQAS).

The renewal of the certificate came after a comprehensive and intensive external audit process that proved the compliance of the work system in the laboratory with the standards of the International Organization for Standardization (ISO). This certificate also crowns the efforts that have been made to provide an ideal experience for patients who receive our healthcare services that comply with international standards.

The renewal of accreditation was subject to a committee of external auditors (the Iraqi Accreditation System) who conducted an evaluation of all services, procedures and operations carried out by the laboratory within the scope of accreditation and in accordance with the international standard specification and the technical requirements of the accreditation body.

“The renewal of the accreditation certificate came within the framework of implementing the hospital’s strategic plan and working to provide high-quality services,” said Dr. Faten Hasem, the head of the laboratory department. She highlighted that the hospital’s work system achieves the desired goals thanks to the efforts of laboratory technicians and the continuous support of the administration. We will also continue our commitment to the ongoing development of the hospital, especially since the ISO certificate is one of the most important certificates globally and is granted to institutions in recognition of their commitment to the standards set by the International Organization for Standardization(ISO) .

Dr. Faten added, “The trust granted to the hospital by the renewal of the laboratory’s accreditation certificate will maintain the application of these international standards, which are concerned with applying all administrative and technical requirements related to laboratory work, improving the services provided to patients and better meeting their needs. It will also contribute to achieving institutional excellence of services and operations and developing internal capabilities and competencies in accordance with the approved development strategy.”
