The intensive care department at Imam Al-Hujjah Hospital saved the life of a woman in her 80s suffering from acute heart failure.
Head of ICU, Dr. Hussein Al-Haj, stated: “The patient was admitted to the CCU with an acute heart failure and respiratory problems resulting from lung congestion. She underwent medical examinations immediately to diagnose her condition. The loss of consciousness indicated an increase in blood CO2 levels, so the patient was referred to the ICU and intubated.”
Dr. Al-Haj continued: “The patient received the necessary medicines and physiotherapy. We repositioned her regularly to prevent bedsores. We also put her on a ventilator and monitored her blood CO2 levels until they returned to normal and the patient regained consciousness. Her heart and lungs recovered and she was removed from the ventilator and sent to the inpatient ward to continue her treatment.”
Dr. Ali Tfaili (interventional cardiologist / Lebanon), Dr. Hashim Zayni (internist), and Dr. Hussein Al-Haj (anesthesiologist/intensivist).
