The technique is called TAP block and it involves anesthetizing the nerves that provide sensation and muscle function to the abdominal wall and skin. This local anesthetic provides effective post-surgical pain relief for women who undergo C-sections.
Obstetrician-gynecologist Taktum Sakhar Al-Erabi stated: “This technique was first used at IHH for a woman in her 30s suffering from gestational hypertension and diabetes.” The procedure, which was performed by anesthesiologist Abd Al-Ameer Noori and his specialized team, proved to be very successful.
