The surgical team at Imam Al-Hujjah Hospital, led by general surgeon Ammer Al-Masoodi, successfully performed emergency surgery for a man in his 50s with an inguinal hernia, heart failure, coronary occlusion, chronic hypertension, and renal failure. Anesthesiologist Zaid Al-Musawi stated that the surgical team faced difficulty in choosing between general anesthesia and local anesthesia. Both options were life-threatening for the patient due to his bad health, therefore, the team decided on regional anesthesia because it was safer and won’t complicate the patient’s other illnesses. The surgery had a pleasant outcome for the middle-aged man as he was discharged from the hospital after making a full recovery.
