A 49-year-old woman survived serious complications as a result of her appendix burst, thanks to the intervention of doctors at Imam al-Hujjah Hospital.
General surgeon Dr. Amer Al-Masoudi explains: “The patient visited Imam al-Hujjah Hospital suffering from lower abdominal pain for a month and severe anemia. After blood transfusion and conducting the necessary tests including ultrasound, we noticed that there was a mass in the lower abdomen on the right side.”
He adds: “The patient was admitted for a laparoscopic operation, and it was noted that she had an appendicitis abscess.”
He adds: “The abscess was drained and the appendix causing the abscess was removed along with adhesions to the ovary.”
The general surgeon pointed out that “the appendix ruptured about a month ago, and during this period a mass of abscesses formed around the intestine and ovary.”
