The Intensive Care Department at Imam Al-Hujjah Hospital celebrated the recovery of two patients suffering from Post-COVID Syndrome.
Head of ICU, Dr. Hussein Al-Haj stated that: “When the two patients presented to the hospital, their oxygen saturation was 50% lower than normal. They were admitted to the ICU and put on non-invasive ventilation devices. For the first couple of days, we completely relied on these ventilators to restabilize the patients’ blood oxygen levels.
We administered the necessary antibiotics after receiving the microbiological culture results for both patients. We noticed an improvement in their breathing so we disconnected the ventilators from time to time. The patients also received respiratory physiotherapy, repositioning in bed, and proper nutrition until they made a full recovery and they were able to breathe on their own.”
Both cases were supervised by Dr. Maitham Al-Maamory (pulmonologist) and Dr. Hussein Al-Haj (senior anesthesiologist/intensivist).
