The expert staff at the Intensive Care Department of Imam Al-Hujjah Hospital successfully saved the life of a 70-year-old man who presented to the emergency ward with severe vasogenic shock, decreased consciousness, and hypoxemia. He was immediately sent to the ICU.
Dr. Hussein Al-Haj, head of the Intensive Care Department, explains: “The patient was put on a ventilator and we administered vasoactive drugs via a central venous (CV) line. The patient’s blood oxygen saturation started to improve right away and he was kept under observation for two days where our highly-skilled doctors and nurses followed up on his health.”

Al-Haj adds: “We disconnected the ventilator when the patient regained his consciousness and was able to breathe normally. He was sent to the inpatient ward to complete his treatment.”

The ICU team who followed up on this case consisted of Dr. Hashim Zayni (internist), Dr. Hussein Al-Haj (senior anesthesiologist/intensivist), and a number of resident doctors and nurses who are well-experienced in intensive care.
