Medical team at IHH performed an emergency cardiac catheterization for a sixty-year-old patient who was suffering from severe abdominal pain in his left arm. This came after multiple attempts at treatment without any signs of improvement.
The Emergency Department said: “The patient visited another hospital, complaining of stomach pain. He received treatment for his stomach and was discharged, but his condition did not improve. Consequently, he decided to seek care at the Emergency Department of Imam Al-Hujjah Charitable Hospital.
They also added: “He was received this morning, suffering from severe stomach pain and discomfort in his left arm.”
They continued: “The emergency medical team monitored his heart, revealing the need for urgent diagnostic catheterization. They contacted the catheterization department that is under the supervision of interventional cardiologist, Dr. Ali Al-Tfaili.”
They pointed out that “The cardiologist arrived immediately, and the patient was swiftly transferred to the catheterization unit after receiving all necessary treatments in the emergency department, including anti-coagulant medication.”
Dr. Ali Al-Tfaili adds: “An urgent diagnostic catheterization was performed, revealing that the patient was suffering from complete occlusion of the left posterior coronary artery and 80% blockage in the left descending coronary artery. A stent was successfully placed in the artery, and the patient was then transferred to the cardiac care unit for monitoring.”
