Our Expert Physicians Diagnose Rare Disease in 7-Year-Old Boy

The expert physicians at Imam Al-Hujjah Hospital made a successful diagnosis of a rare disease in a 7-year-old boy who started experiencing strange symptoms about a year ago. Those symptoms included abdominal pain, nausea, vomiting, and high blood pressure that wasn’t responding to medications. The young patient became a regular visitor of children hospitals and healthcare centers.
Finally, the boy came to the urology clinic of Imam Al-Hujjah Hospital and underwent radiology and laboratory tests. Our physicians diagnosed him with pheochromocytoma, a type of neuroendocrine tumor that grew from the patient’s adrenal gland to his left kidney, which resulted in hypertension and renal hypoplasia.
Dr. Ameer Al-Araji, the urologist in charge of this case, commented: “Once we decided to remove the tumor, we prepped the patient for surgery. We had to control the child’s blood pressure to avoid any complications.”
Al-Araji continued: ” The urological surgery team at Imam Al-Hujjah Hospital, assisted by anesthesiologist Zaid Al-Musawi, successfully removed the tumor, the adrenal gland, and left kidney. The boy is in good health now, his blood pressure is stable, and he was discharged safely.” …
