IHH successfully performed the first non-surgical procedure to remove deep varicose veins using regional anesthesia and an advanced device, eliminating the need for patients to travel abroad for such surgeries.
Dr. Ihsan Al-Amri, vascular surgeon at IHH, stated: “We successfully treated a 20-year-old woman with deep varicose veins using deep laser therapy without the need for surgery or general/partial anesthesia.”
He added, “The patient had suffered significantly from varicose veins and was reluctant to undergo a surgical operation that might cause mutilation. However, she chose this method at our hospital, and it proved to be a successful decision.”
Dr. Al-Amri adds: “For this procedure, the patient only required local anesthesia (supervised by Dr. Zaid Al-Mousawi), and the results were exceptionally excellent.”
He also added: “This procedure is considered one of the modern operations conducted in prestigous countries worldwide, as Iraqis used to travel abroad to undergo such operations.”
He adds: “Now, the device is available at Imam Al-Hujjah Charitable Hospital, and the success of the procedure is guaranteed”
He further highlighted, “Today marks the first time we have performed this procedure at IHH, and Alhamdulillah, the results were extremely excellent. And the patient was discharged just a few hours after the procedure.”
