The Intensive Care Unit at Imam Al-Hujjah Hospital received a critical case for a man in his 20s who suffered a primary brain injury that rendered him unconscious.
Head of the ICU, Dr. Hussein Al-Hajj, stated that: The patient was admitted to the hospital in critical condition and lacking any neurological reflexes. CT scan, MRI, and laboratory tests were conducted at regular intervals to assess the damage and follow up on the young man’s health.
Dr. Al-Hajj added: Four days after staying at the ICU and receiving treatment, the patient scored 6/13 on the Glasgow coma scale, then three days later he regained full consciousness and normal reflexes. He scored 15/15 on the Glasgow scale and was sent to the inpatient ward to resume treatment.
Dr. Hazim Moojid (neurosurgeon) and Dr. Hussein Al-Hajj (intensivist/anesthesiologist) supervised the case until the patient made a full recovery.
We wish everyone a speedy recovery.
