Medical team at Imam Al-Hujjah Charitable Hospital successfully saved the life of a seventy-year-old woman who was suffering from acute coronary artery blockage.
Dr. Ali Al-Tufaili, Cardiologist and Interventional Cardiologist at IHH, stated: “A successful diagnostic and interventional catheterization procedure was performed for a female patient in her seventies. This was done during her visit to Imam Al-Hujjah Charitable Hospital as she was complaining of severe chest pain and shortness of breath.”

He also added: “As soon as the patient arrived at the emergency department, All necessary procedures were made, and a heart ECG was performed. The ECG revealed problems in the arteries, necessitating an emergency cardiac catheterization procedure.
After performing the diagnostic catheterization, it was found that there was an acute occlusion in the left circumflex artery and a total chronic occlusion in the left anterior descending artery. There were also multiple occlusions in the right artery”
Al-Tufaili adds: “These results indicated the necessity for the patient to undergo open-heart surgery.”

The interventioinal cardiologist continues with: “The family was consulted for the surgery, but they refused. Based on these circumstances, the medical team decided to perform a two-stage interventional procedure. The two procedures were carried out within 48 hours. Praise be to God, the two procedures were successful.”
