The obstetrics-gynecology department at Imam Al-Hujjah Hospital received an emergency of a 31-year-old woman pregnant with twin babies. Dr. Sundus Karam explains: “The patient came from Hilla city. She had previously given birth to 3 daughters and planned for a twin pregnancy with boys through IVF. She presented to the hospital in labor so we quickly admitted her to the delivery room. The first baby was delivered via normal vaginal birth, however, she became tired and wanted a C-section. Despite the critical time, we took her to the surgical theater and delivered the second baby via Cesarean delivery, without any complications. A pediatrician was present on the scene to look after the newborns. The surgery was successful and both the mother and her twin boys are in good health now.”
