A medical team at Imam al-Hujjah Hospital performed two surgeries simultaneously on an 84-year-old patient suffering from chronic diseases (diabetes and high blood pressure), using advanced technology.
According to the surgeon, the procedure was performed using regional anesthesia by anesthesiologist Dr. Abdul Amir Al-Nouri.
Urologist Dr. Yahya Al-Khafaji said: “We performed two surgeries on the patient at the same time. The first was prostate vaporization that did not take more than 10 minutes, and the second surgery was a hernia repair.”
He adds: “The patient was complaining of a large intestinal hernia that greatly affected the intestines and prostate.”
According to Dr. Al-Khafaji, “The prostate vaporization technology that we use at Imam al-Hujjah Hospital is one of the modern techniques that saves time and its results are excellent.”
He adds: “Recovery with this technique is very fast compared to the traditional treatment method (prostate surgery),” stressing that “the patient was discharged after the success of the procedure and is in good health.”
