After suffering from complications of thyroid secretions, a young woman in her twenties finally survived from toxic hyperthyroidism after she was treated at Imam Al-Hujjah Hospital.
A medical team at Imam Al-Hujjah Hospital was able to successfully remove the toxic gland at record speed.
General surgeon Dr. Salah Al-Sulaikhi, stated, “The patient suffered from toxic hyperthyroidism.”
He explains: “The problem with this surgery is that the secretion of the thyroid gland is very large, and even with the patient taking all of her medications, the secretion did not diminish or stop.”
He adds: “The challenge was to perform the surgery with increased secretion, unlike normal cases where secretion is reduced, but the problem was that the patient’s hormones were high and resisting going down.”
Dr. Al-Sulaikhi continued: “With the support of the anesthesia staff at Imam Al-Hujjah Hospital and under the supervision of Dr. Abdul Amir Al-Nouri, we were able to complete the surgery in record time and were able to remove the toxic gland without any complications.”
He confirmed that the patient was discharged from the hospital 24 hours after the surgery and she is in good health. The vocal cords and calcium levels were examined, and the results were normal, praise be to God.
