Imam Al-Hujjah Hospital’s highly-skilled surgical team successfully removed a gland weighing 250 grams for a man in his 70s despite suffering from heart failure.

Urology surgeon Abd Al-Ameer Al-Araji explains: “The patient was struggling with urinary problems for many years and he was forced to stay home at all times because of his urinary catheter. His enlarged prostate gland completely blocked his urinary tract.

Al-Araji adds: “He visited many surgeons but they refused to do his surgery because his heart muscle was functioning at only 25%. He also has hypertension and elevated renal function. After he was medically examined by the urologist, nephrologist, cardiologist, and anesthesiologist at Imam Al-Hujjah Hospital, and despite undergoing diagnostic catheterization, we decided to perform a prostatectomy under regional anesthesia. The surgery was successful, and the patient’s long struggle came to a positive end.”
