The medical team at Imam Al-Hujjah Hospital saved the life of a woman in her 20s who suffered postpartum complications. The Media Department reported that the patient had more than one miscarriage in the past and she presented to the Emergency Department, 7 months pregnant. She gave birth at the hospital and the pre-term baby was sent to the NICU (Neonatal Intensive Care Unit). The mother was also kept under close monitoring.
A few hours after her normal delivery, the medical and nursing staff noticed a change in the patient’s health. She suffered dyspnea and arrhythmia. Resident doctor Elaf Ali Jasim, assisted by nurses Ruqaya Haitham and Nora Saad, quickly treated the patient and contacted Dr. Hashim Zayni (internist) and Dr. Aliya Hussein (obstetrician-gynecologist). The young woman was rushed to the ICU and she received all the necessary medical examinations. She was diagnosed with pulmonary embolism. After treatment and follow-up on the patient’s condition, she started to recover and was transferred to the inpatient ward.
