The surgical team at Imam Al-Hujjah Hospital saved the life of a woman from Karbala who experienced acute appendicitis while she was giving birth.

Obstetrician-gynecologist Taktum Sakhar reported that during the C-section, she discovered that the 40-year-old patient was suffering from a severe inflammation in her appendix. General surgeon Muthana Jabbir was called for an emergency appendectomy.

Dr. Sakhar added: “Team effort saved the mother and her baby’s life. This type of cooperation among our healthcare providers is what sets Imam Al-Hujjah Hospital apart.” The surgical team also included Dr. Firas Al-Saigh (anesthesiologist), Raja Shakir (nurse anesthetist), and Dawlat Ali (surgical nurse).
