The gastroenterology center at Imam Al-Hujjah Hospital performed a successful gastrostomy for a woman in her 80s. She suffered a stroke six months ago which caused her swallowing problems. GI surgeon Emad Geddoa stated: “For the past six months, the patient relied on a feeding tube and she wasn’t recovering, so we performed a percutaneous endoscopic gastrostomy under local anesthesia. We passed the feeding tube into the patient’s stomach through the abdominal wall. The procedure was successful and the patient’s condition started to improve within a few hours.” It’s worth mentioning that the Gastroenterology Center at Imam Al-Hujjah Hospital is staffed with a team of experts and equipped with state-of-the-art devices imported from internationally renowned manufacturers.
