Successful cartilage replacement for a patient from Dhi Qar

A medical team at Imam Al-Hujjah Hospital was able to perform a successful surgery on a patient who was suffering from stenosis in the spinal cord and nerves.
The hospital media representative stated that “the patient is from Dhi Qar Governorate, and was complaining of stenosis of the spinal cord and nerves.”
He explains: “The surgery faced challenges, most notably the accuracy of the placement of cartilage between the vertebrae to ensure complete fusion of the vertebral bones.”
He adds: “The operation was performed successfully by spinal surgery specialist Dr. Ahmed Hashem Al-Qutb, Dr. Muhammad Yahya Burhan, a resident physician in orthopedic and spinal surgery, as well as anesthesiologist Dr. Abdul Amir Nouri.”
The hospital media rep. indicated that “the third, fourth, and fifth lumbar vertebrae were stabilized with artificial cartilage implanted between the lumbar vertebrae.”
He confirmed that “the patient is in good health and was able to walk a day after the surgery.”
