Medical team at IHH successfully put an end to the suffering of a sixty-year-old patient who was dealing with kidney stones, cysts in the liver and spleen, and colon issues. The procedure took approximately 4 hours to complete.
Dr. Emad Gaddou, general and digestive system surgeon, said:” “The patient has been suffering from abdominal pain for ten years and has a 20 cm cyst on the liver and another cyst on the spleen, in addition to issues with the right kidney.”
He also added: “We performed the surgery, and praise be to Allah, she is in good condition. We also conducted a colonoscopy in the operating room to ensure its safety, and it turned out there were some adhesions in the colon, which is a normal occurrence.”
Urologist, Dr. Ameer Al-Aaraji, said
that: “The patient, who is in her sixties, suffered from multiple health issues such as severe obesity, and colonic stenosis and a large cyst in the liver and spleen. She also suffered from hypertension, diabetes, thyroid gland dysfunction, weakened heart muscle, recurring right flank pain, loss of appetite, and chronic constipation.”
He also added: “Despite visiting numerous doctors in various provinces, she couldn’t find a solution to relieve her pain in the right kidney caused by multiple stones in the right ureter and the large cyst in the liver.”
Dr. Ameer continues: “When she visited our Urology Department here at IHH, she underwent a thorough examination by a specialized team of surgeons led by Dr. Imad Abdul-Sahib and consisting of Internist Dr. Hashim Zainy, Cardiologist Dr. Ali Al-Tfaili, and anesthesiologist Dr. Abd Al-Ameer Nouri”
He also mentioned that “The patient was prepared by our medical staff and underwent a 4-hour surgery, during which they performed endoscopic removal of kidney stones, treated liver and spleen cysts, and conducted colonoscopy under general anesthesia. Biopsies were taken from the colon and liver for histological examination. She is now in good health, praise be to Allah.”
