Researchers from Inside and Outside of Iraq Participate in Imam Al-Hujjah Hospital’s 1st Scientific Medical Conference

Imam Al-Hujjah Hospital held its first-ever scientific medical conference on “Musculoskeletal and Spinal Infection” at The Baron Hotel on Saturday, Oct. 22nd, 2022. Researchers from inside and outside Iraq participated in the conference. The event started with a Quran recitation by the Qari of Imam Hussein (AS) and Imam Abbas (AS) Shrines, Rasool Al-Amery, followed by a short documentary about the hospital and a word from IHH medical advisor, Dr. Mehdi Abd Al-Sahib. The conference included the presentation of scientific research in two sessions. The first session was chaired by Dr. Saad Sahib Al-Nassir, with Dr. Haider Daher as the rapporteur, and it consisted of the following lectures:

1. Antibiotics in Orthopedic & Trauma / Prof. Thamer A. Hamdan.
2. Prevention, Diagnosis, & Treatment of Post. Operative Infection / Prof. David Spiegel.
3. Radiological Investigation of Bone Infection / Dhiyaa Al-Defaai.
4. Bacteriology of Bone Infection / Dr. Munner Toma.
5. The Pathophysiology of Bone Infection / Dr. Haithem Al-Asady.
6. Infection Like Pathology, Case Based / Dr. Mubder A. Mohammed Saeed.
7. The Ideal Treatment of Bone Infection / Dr. Burair Alasadi.
8. Lecture by Acino Company.

The second session was chaired by Dr. Dhiaa Husain Alwan,
with Dr. Malik Shakur as the rapporteur. The lectures were:
1. Diagnosis and treatment of Spinal Infection / Prof. David Spiegel.
2. Post-operative Disc Space Infection / Prof. Thamer A. Hamdan.
3. Spine Instability Score in Spine Infections / Prof. Sameer Kitab. 
4. T.B. Spine, When to operate, Case-Based / Dr. Ali Bakir Al-Hilli.
5. Implant Associated Vertebral Osteomyelitis (IAVO) / Dr. Saad Jumaah Abdulsalam.
6. Extradural Abscess, Presented with Paraplegia / Dr. Husam Ghazi Al-Anbari. 
7. Post THR Infection / Dr.Ahmed Nama Altaei.
8. Post TKR Infection / Dr. Ehsan Faraj.
9. Lessons to be Learned from Bone infection / Dr. Raed Jasim.
10. Presentation of Problem Cases, Infection, T.B. / Prof. David Spiegel, Dr. Ahmed Ibraheem (Moderator).
The conference concluded with a word from the CEO of Imam Al-Hujjah Hospital and awarding the researchers and attendees for the success of this special scientific activity.
