A medical team at Imam Al-Hujjah Hospital in Holy Karbala succeeded in removing a large tumor from the kidney of a 48-year-old patient.
The surgery was successfully performed by Dr. Yahya Al-Khafaji, a urology specialist at Imam Al-Hujjah Hospital.
Dr. Al-Khafaji stated that:

“The patient was suffering from two tumors on the kidney, one above the kidney and measuring 12 cm, and the other adjacent to it and measuring 7 cm.”

He explains:

“The two masses were attached to the colon and spleen on the left side of the main arteries.”

He adds:

“We performed the operation under general anesthesia with the participation of anesthesiologist Dr. Abdul Amir Nouri. The operation took four hours, during which the two tumors and a sample of the lymph nodes were removed for examination in the laboratory.”

He pointed out that

“The biggest challenge in the surgery is the large size of the tumor as well as the adhesions to the spleen and colon. But, thank God, we overcame this challenge, and the tumor was removed while the organs attached to it were preserved intact.”

Dr. Al-Khafaji confirmed that

“The patient was discharged from the hospital two days after the surgery, and his health condition is improving.”
