An all-female medical team at Imam Al-Hujjah Hospital in Holy Karbala succeeded in performing an emergency caesarean section to save the lives of a mother and her newborn after facing difficulties due to fibrous nodes in the uterus.
Dr. Suzan Abbas, obstetrician and gynecologist at Imam Al-Hujjah Hospital, stated:

“The patient is 40 years old, in her eighth month of pregnancy, and has multiple fibrous nodules in her uterus.”

She stated:

“The fibrous nodes were inside the uterine lining, which put the mother at risk of miscarriage or premature delivery.”

Adding:

“The patient continued her pregnancy regularly, but at the end of the eighth month, her waters decreased due to a perforation, and severe contractions appeared due to the fibrous nodes at the bottom of the uterus.”

Dr. Suzan continued:

“This led to rapid intervention to save the child and mother.”

Adding:

“During the operation, we faced difficulty in delivering the fetus due to the location of the fibrous nodes, and we had to remove the nodes during the surgery due to the difficulty of suturing the layers of the uterus.”

The obstetrician and gynecologist said that

“This was a difficult operation due to the possibility of severe bleeding during the removal of the fibrous nodes, which may lead to the removal of the uterus.”

But she confirmed

“The fibroid nodes were removed without this happening, thanks to Allah, and the patient was given a quantity of blood.”

She concluded by saying:

“The patient was discharged in stable condition and gave birth to a healthy girl.”
