The medical team at Imam Al-Hujjah Hospital successfully removed six large stones from a 70-year-old man’s bladder. The patient suffers from urinary retention due to benign prostatic hyperplasia (prostate gland enlargement) that was caused by the stones. Urologist-in-charge, Dr. Yehya Al-Khafaji explains that the 70-year-old patient has hypertension and hemiplegia resulting from a previous stroke. Local anesthesia was administered by Dr. Abd Al-Ameer Noori and a successful surgery was performed to remove the six bladder stones that were (3 – 4 cm) in size. The patient also underwent a prostatectomy and his health condition started to improve quickly after those surgical procedures, praise be to Allah.
