The Development and Relief Foundation, chaired by Ayatollah Murtaza Al-Qazweeni and supervisor of Imam Al-Hujjah Hospital, announced that on Friday, Mar. 31st, 2023, 500 Ramadan food baskets were distributed to disadvantaged families in Karbala.
The day before, 500 additional and similar food baskets were distributed to another 500 families.
The distribution took place at Imam Al-Hujjah Hospital and the baskets contain what a family might need during the holy month of Ramadan.
The Development and Relief Foundation assists thousands of orphans and families in need by providing them with monthly salaries, financial aid, free quality education, and free medical care.
Prior to that, The DRF revealed that more than 1,860,000,000 Iraqi dinars were spent in 2022 on aid and sponsorships for orphans.
The foundation also revealed on Tuesday, Feb. 28th, 2023 that they’ve distributed the monthly salary for widows and orphans at their headquarters in Karbala. 3110 orphans were given 50 thousand Iraqi dinars each.
