A man in his 50s presented to the Emergency Department at Imam Al-Hujjah Hospital suffering from severe bleeding.

Urologist Yehya Mhesin Al-Khafaji stated that the patient was in a critical condition. His radiology test results revealed that the bleeding was a result of benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) or prostate gland enlargement. The patient was admitted to the surgical theater and the blood clots in his bladder were removed via prostate drainage.

Dr. Al-Khafaji also reported that the 2-hour surgery was successful and the bleeding stopped. Anesthesiologist Mohammed Ali Shubar used regional anesthesia because the middle-aged man suffers from chronic hypertension. The patient was discharged from the hospital after making a full recovery.
