The medical team at Imam Al-Hujjah Hospital successfully saved the life of a young man who had a split kidney after having been hit by a fatal strike. The split kidney led to severe bleeding.
The medical team, under the supervision of nephrology and urology specialist Dr. Amir Al-Aaraji, stated: “a 15-year-old boy from Karbala governorate suffered a fatal hit to the left kidney. The hit led to the kidney getting split in half, with severe bleeding, leakage of urine into the abdominal cavity, and peritoneal poisoning.”
The general anesthesia that was needed for the procedure got even more complicated to perform because of the boy’s collapsed left lung. With the help of anesthesiologist Abd Al-Ameer Noori, the team could successfully complete the operation.
During the emergency surgery, Dr. Amir Al-Aaraji managed to halt the severe bleeding, remove the left kidney and clean the abdominal cavity of the young boy to help the young man recover.
