A medical team at Imam al-Hujjah Hospital succeeded in saving the life of a thirty-year-old patient who was suffering from a huge cystic tumor in the back of the right chest, and the operation was performed on her completely free of charge.
According to the medical team, the patient was suffering from shortness of breath and back pain. When she visited our hospital, the necessary tests were conducted on her, and it was found that there was a huge cystic tumor adjacent to the spine and part of it connected to the spinal canal.
The medical team (consisting of Consultant Dr. Ihsan Al-Amri, a specialist in thoracic and vascular medicine and surgery, and Dr. Hazem Mojed, a specialist in brain, nerve and vertebral surgery) diagnosed the seriousness of the condition and the possibility of the patient suffering from paralysis of the lower extremities as a result of pressure on the nerve cord.
Therefore, the medical team decided to perform a laparoscopic surgical procedure, and the tumor was completely removed without the need for a chest opening.
According to the medical team, the operation took two hours, and the patient was discharged to the inpatient ward without the need for intensive care.
