A medical team at Imam Al-Hujjah Hospital succeeded in performing a completely free operation to stabilize a complex vertebrae for a thirty-year-old woman who was suffering from chronic back pain and difficulty moving.
The specialist in brain and neurosurgery at Imam Al-Hujjah Hospital, Dr. Hazem Mojed, stated that

“The patient visited the hospital suffering from chronic back pain and difficulty moving in her left foot and leg.”

He explains:

“The MRI showed the presence of slippage in the lumbar vertebrae between the fourth and fifth vertebrae, along with narrowing of the spinal canal and pressure on the nerve roots, which required a surgical intervention to stabilize the vertebrae under the supervision of Dr. Hazem Mojed, a specialist in brain and neurosurgery, and Dr. Amjad Al-Defafi, a specialist in spinal surgery. The operation was successful.”

Dr. Mojed adds:

“The vertebrae were fixed with supports using 6 screws, and the patient’s condition improved significantly immediately after the operation.”

He confirmed that

“Such an operation has a high cost outside Iraq, which may exceed $10,000. It was performed completely free of charge at Imam Al-Hujjah Hospital.”
