The Development and Relief Foundation, chaired by Ayatollah Murtaza Al-Qazweeni, announced that on Wednesday, Mar. 8th, 2023 dozens of free food baskets were distributed to underserved families in the holy city of Karbala.

This coincides with the “free treatment initiative” at Imam Al-Hujjah Hospital, one of the charity projects of the DRF, to commemorate the birth anniversary of Imam Mahdi (AS).
The foundation sponsors thousands of orphans and low-income families, offering them financial and in-kind aid, in addition to free education and healthcare.
The foundation sorts the families that are eligible for aid through specialized committees.

Prior to that, The DRF revealed that more than 1,860,000,000 Iraqi dinars were spent in 2022 on aid and sponsorships for orphans.
The foundation also revealed on Tuesday, Feb. 28th, 2023 that they’ve distributed the monthly salary for widows and orphans at their headquarters in Karbala. 3110 orphans were given 50 thousand Iraqi dinars each.
Additionally, the foundation announced that Imam Al-Hujjah Hospital spent more than 81 million Iraqi dinars on free treatment for patients during the month of February 2023.
