In critical moments where every second mattered, the medical team at Imam Al-Hujjah Hospital raced against time to save the life of a man in his sixties who arrived in extremely critical condition after suffering from bilateral kidney obstruction. The blockage had caused dangerously elevated levels of urea and creatinine—more than ten times the normal range—indicating severe acute kidney failure that posed an immediate threat to his life.
The case required urgent intervention, placing the medical team before a major challenge that demanded swift decision-making and precise execution.
Commenting on the case, urology specialist Dr. Riyadh Rashid stated:
“The patient arrived in a very critical condition due to obstruction in both kidneys, which led to a rapid deterioration in kidney function. Immediate intervention was absolutely necessary to prevent potentially life-threatening complications.”
He added:
“An emergency ureteroscopic procedure was performed on both ureters to relieve the obstruction and restore normal urine drainage. This is a highly delicate procedure that requires significant expertise and rapid response.”
Following the operation, the patient was transferred directly to the intensive care unit, where he received close medical monitoring and specialized care to stabilize kidney function and improve his overall condition.
Thanks to the continuous efforts of the medical staff, the patient’s condition gradually improved, and after one week of treatment, he was discharged from the hospital in good health—another story that reflects the spirit of rapid response and compassionate medical care.
