Medical team at Imam Al-Hujjah Charitable Hospital successfully removed a large tumor from the bladder of an elderly patient (over 95 years old) after other doctors were unable to treat him.
Dr. Amir Al-Araji, urologist at Imam Al-Hujjah Charitable Hospital, said: “We received a patient from Dhi Qar Governorate who is over 95 years old and had been suffering from severe hematuria for months, requiring multiple blood transfusions.”
He adds: “After consulting with several doctors who refused to perform a surgical intervention because of his age, he was referred to another province due to the challenges associated with anesthesia and surgical intervention. He had a large tumor in the bladder, occupying approximately half of the left bladder.”
Dr. Amir confirms that “After our examination and evaluation, a complete transurethral resection of the tumor was performed for him. The patient underwent the procedure under regional anesthesia performed by anesthesiologist Dr. Abd Al-Amir Nouri and was discharged in good health, praise be to God.”
