Medical team at Imam Al-Hujjah Charitable Hospital successfully performed a procedure to break down a 7-centimeter kidney stone in the left kidney of a patient.
Dr. Yahya Al-Khafaji, urologist and kidney surgeon, mentioned that a 57-year-old patient was presented to our hospital with high blood pressure and a 7-centimeter kidney stone in the left kidney. The stone had filled all the renal calyces and pelvis, a condition known as “staghorn calculi.”
Dr. Al-Khafaji said: “The patient underwent a procedure to fragment and remove the kidney stone using a small incision not exceeding 1 cm, performed with endoscopic techniques. The procedure was carried out with the assistance of our anesthesiologist, Dr. Abd Al-Amir Nouri.”
