The obstetrics-gynecology team at Imam Al-Hujjah hospital successfully removed a blood ovarian cyst that was the size of a baby’s head during a woman’s Cesarean delivery.

Physician-in-charge Aliya Al-Musawi explains: “The 20-year-old patient presented to the hospital in an urgent condition, suffering from a blood cyst on her right ovary. The cyst was 9*10 cm in size, almost the size of a baby’s head. The patient was also suffering from hemolytic anemia and her hemoglobin level was 7 m/dL. She received a blood transfusion of 3 bags before being admitted for surgery.

Al-Musawi adds: “We were able to stabilize the mother and her baby’s condition throughout the C-section and she gave birth to a healthy boy. We also removed the blood cyst that was attached to the patient’s right ovary and the surgery was very successful, praise be to Allah and to the efforts of the surgical team including anesthesiologist Abd Al-Ameer Noori.”
We wish everyone good health and prosperity.
