The Emergency Department at Imam Al-Hujjah Hospital received a 65-year-old patient with multiple cardiac conditions who was in critical condition due to severe gastrointestinal bleeding, prompting an immediate medical emergency response.
Dr. Amir Hamed Al-Husseini, Consultant in Internal Medicine, stated:
“The patient was urgently admitted to the Intensive Care Unit given the severity of his condition. We immediately began comprehensive clinical assessments and necessary investigations, along with intensive supportive treatment, which helped achieve initial stabilization and prepare the patient for specialized intervention.”
In the same context, Dr. Ali Arab, Consultant in Gastroenterology, Hepatology, and Endoscopy, explained:
“Once the patient’s vital signs stabilized, an emergency interventional upper gastrointestinal endoscopy was performed. The procedure revealed a duodenal ulcer with an actively bleeding artery, which required immediate therapeutic intervention using endoscopic clips. The procedure was successful, and the bleeding was completely controlled.”
Following the successful medical intervention and confirmation of the patient’s overall stability, he was transferred to the inpatient ward to continue treatment and complete the therapeutic plan, under close supervision by the medical and nursing teams—highlighting the hospital’s high level of readiness and efficiency in managing critical cases.
