50-year-old Woman Gets a Second Chance at Life after 20 Days at the ICU

The intensive care unit at Imam Al-Hujjah Hospital supervised the case of a 50-year-old patient until she made a full recovery. The head of the ICU, Dr. Hussein Al-Hajj stated that: “The patient suffered post-acute covid-19 syndrome. All necessary medical tests were conducted and the patient was intubated.”

He added: “The patient remained at the ICU for 20 days where a number of physicians followed up on her health condition. She was treated with medicines, physiotherapy, and spontaneous breathing trials. She was extubated for certain periods of time and at an increasing rate until the ventilator was fully withdrawn and she was able to breathe unassisted.”

The patient is in good health now according to the physicians overseeing her care; pulmonologist Dr. Maytham Al-Mamori, internist Dr. Hassan Ali Ibrahim, and anesthesiologist/intensivist Dr. Hussein Al-Hajj Mohammed Ali.
