The pediatrics team at Imam Al-Hujjah Hospital supervised the case of an infant who was 40 days old, suffering from unconsciousness, a bulging fontanel, paleness, and frequent vomiting. The patient was examined by pediatrician Dr. Ashwaq Al-Ammar and he underwent all the necessary laboratory tests.
He was referred to neurologist Dr. Ali Ammir Al-Shafei, who, assisted by the newborn care nursing staff, treated the child with several procedures, including plasma and blood transfusion. They also treated the patient’s vitamin K deficiency which caused his brain hemorrhage. Recovery began within 24 hours and the infant was breastfed. He was discharged from the hospital after making a full recovery under the watch of our pediatricians.
