A man in his 90s has recently presented to Imam Al-Hujjah Hospital with enlarged prostates. He has been suffering for more than 5 years but was scared to undergo surgery due to a number of chronic diseases (hypertension, diabetes, etc). After a thorough medical examination, our surgical team decided to perform a prostatectomy under regional anesthesia. The successful surgery was performed by urologist Ameer Al-Araji. He explains: “The patient has been suffering from enlarged prostate glands for over 5 years which resulted in a 20-cm inguinal hernia and the patient’s bladder herniated into the inguinal canal. He had to use adult diapers for years.” Al-Araji adds: “With the help of anesthesiologist Abd Al-Ameer Noori and our expert surgical team we removed the enlarged gland and repaired the hernia successfully. The patient was discharged after his full recovery.”
