A specialized medical team at Imam al-Hujjah Hospital succeeded in performing an operation to remove the fluid from a parasitic water cyst that was on the liver of a 41-year-old woman.
The specialist in general surgery and gastrointestinal surgery at Imam al-Hujjah Hospital, Dr. Imad Abdel-Saheb Jadoua, stated that
“The patient was complaining of a 10 cm parasitic water cyst on the back of her liver.”
He explains:
“In such cases, endoscopic intervention is difficult, so fluids were withdrawn from the 300 mm cyst and a substance that kills the parasites was given.”
He adds:
“We performed the operation under local anesthesia and under the supervision of an x-ray machine, with the help of the radiologist at Imam al-Hijjah Hospital, Dr. Ali Muhammad Jalil.”
He continues:
“We placed a tube to drain the remaining fluids, and the patient was discharged from the hospital and she is improving.”
