The medical team at Imam Al-Hujjah Hospital considered several options to save the life of a woman in her 40s suffering from neck pain, vomiting, impaired consciousness, and low oxygen saturation.
Neurologist Khattab Al-Khafaji reported that the patient was admitted to the ICU and put on a ventilator. She underwent all the necessary medical tests. Her CT scan results weren’t reliable and MRI was difficult to perform due to the woman’s health condition. The medical team was left with a few options to keep her alive.
Al-Khafaji added: “We decided to administer treatment for a brain infection, and a few days later, the patient started to respond to the treatment by moving her limbs and her health condition was improving, so we disconnected her from the ventilation machine and sent her for physiotherapy.” The patient was discharged in good health.
