Doctors at IHH treat a rare case of a “70-year-old man” In a rare case, doctors at Imam al-Hujjah Hospital diagnosed an intestinal obstruction in a 70-year-old man who was suffering from chronic diseases and morbid obesity, which forced our specialized medical team to perform a life-saving surgery.
The general surgery specialist at Imam al-Hujjah Hospital, Dr. Amer Muhammad al-Masoudi, stated:
“The patient is a seventy-year-old man suffering from intestinal obstruction due to torsion of the sigmoid colon, which is a rare condition. He visited Imam al-Hujjah Hospital to find out the causes of the disease.”
He explains:
“The patient also complains of chronic diseases with morbid obesity and joint problems, as he had previously had a joint replacement operation.”
He adds:
“Within five days, we performed all the required tests and examinations for the patient, including x-rays, ultrasound, and CT scan, to diagnose the condition accurately, a common practice at Imam al-Hujjah Hospital.”
The general surgery specialist explained:
“We performed a laparotomy using general anesthesia under the supervision of anesthesiologist Dr. Osama Issa. The twisting and obstruction were removed, and the patient was discharged in good health after completing the treatment.”
