The medical team at Imam Al-Hujjah Hospital saved the life of a man in his 60s who presented to the E.R. with severe chest pain. His ECG revealed significant changes in the ST segment. After undergoing medical examinations and receiving treatment at the E.R., he was sent to the cath lab for an emergency diagnostic catheterization. The patient was suffering from chronic and new arterial occlusions.
Interventional cardiologist Sami Saad (Lebanon) explains: “The patient’s health condition called for an open-heart surgery but after discussing it with him and his family we decided to perform an emergency diagnostic catheterization and we opened all the blocked arteries with meshes. The operation was very successful, ending the patient’s two-year struggle. He was discharged from the hospital after making a full recovery.”
